New Delhi, Education Desk. Since the NEET UG (NEET UG 2026) paper leak case, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is constantly under the scanner from all sides. Amidst the uproar across the country, the agency has decided to conduct re-exam on June 21, 2026. Meanwhile, a very big and important news has come out from the Supreme Court regarding this high-profile case. The Supreme Court has completely rejected the petition demanding to conduct this examination to be held on June 21 in Computer Based Test (CBT) i.e. online mode. After this decision of the court, it has become clear that this year’s NEET UG exam will be conducted through its old traditional pen-paper mode i.e. OMR sheet only.
PIL was filed for leak-proof examination, Supreme Court did not approve
In fact, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed in the Supreme Court to make the NEET UG examination to be held on June 21 completely secure, transparent and leak-proof. This petition was jointly filed by IMA national spokesperson Dr. Dhruv Chauhan, RJD MP Sudhakar Singh, political leader Harisharan Devgan and social activist Anubhav Garg. The petitioners argued that the only way to immediately stop serious irregularities like paper leaks happening continuously in the medical entrance examination is to shift it to online CBT mode. However, the Supreme Court has currently rejected this demand considering it not practical.
Exam pattern will change completely from the year 2027, NTA gave information in the court
Even though this year’s exam is going to be conducted on the old pattern, a revolutionary change can be seen in the exam pattern of NEET UG from next year. NTA itself has given a clear indication of this by filing an important affidavit in the Supreme Court. The agency told the court that it is seriously working towards conducting the NEET UG examination completely in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode i.e. online from the year 2027 and complete preparations are being made for it. In such a situation, future medical candidates will now have to prepare themselves for the new digital pattern.
Re-exam will be held on June 21, National Testing Agency busy in preparations
Let us tell you that earlier on May 3, there were allegations of large-scale irregularities and paper leaks in the NEET UG examination conducted across the country, after which NTA had canceled that examination in view of the huge protest. Now NTA is making tight security arrangements to conduct the re-exam to be held on June 21 peacefully without any controversy. Since now the court has also made it clear that there will be no immediate change in the mode, hence the students should start finalizing their old OMR sheet based preparations without any confusion.
