The game of check-mate continues in the politics of Bihar. Giving another big blow to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the party’s strong leader, former Lok Sabha candidate and former state president of Mahila Morcha, Ritu Jaiswal has officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). As soon as she joined BJP, Ritu Jaiswal has opened a front against the top leadership of RJD, especially Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav. While talking to the media, he directly took a sharp dig at the domestic disputes of Lalu family and the political immaturity of Tejashwi Yadav. Ritu Jaiswal, without any hesitation, has seriously accused Tejashwi Yadav of ignoring the workers and being immersed in ego.
‘Our sisters were better than our mouthed brothers’ Ritu’s taunt on Rohini Acharya controversy
When journalists asked Ritu Jaiswal that she had once considered Tejashwi Yadav as her brother and had tied Rakhi on his wrist, then why this rebellion now? On this, Ritu Jaiswal targeted the Lalu family in a very aggressive manner by taking the name of Rohini Acharya. He said, “Tejashwi Yadav was just our brother, but Rohini Acharya was his own sister. Then what happened to her? What was missing in her, just ask her.”
It is noteworthy that after RJD’s crushing defeat in Bihar Assembly elections, a big controversy had come to light at Rabri Devi’s residence. During the review of the defeat, there was a heated argument between Tejashwi Yadav and his sister Rohini Acharya, after which Rohini was asked to leave the residence. Rohini Acharya had then alleged that when she questioned the role of Tejashwi’s chief advisor Sanjay Yadav in the reasons for the defeat, she was not only abused but even slippers were thrown at her. Pointing towards this incident, Ritu Jaiswal has raised questions on Tejashwi’s attitude.
‘What kind of leader are you, who doesn’t even know the pulse of the public?’ Ritu scolds Tejashwi
Giving bitter advice to Tejashwi Yadav to improve his ways, Ritu Jaiswal said that Tejashwi’s ego is solely responsible for the plight of the party. He said, “What kind of leader are you, you don’t even know what the people and grassroots workers want. The voice of the workers should have been heard. Ritu Jaiswal has not become a rebel, but has become the voice of the people of Parihar.”
Recalling the era of Lalu Prasad Yadav, he compared Tejashwi with his father. Ritu said, “Lalu Prasad Yadav had this amazing quality that he used to directly embrace the poor and common workers who came from far away places. But today a huge gap has formed between Tejashwi Yadav and the workers, due to which RJD is limited to so few seats today. If Tejashwi has to do better in politics, then he will have to come out of the closed rooms and meet the workers and respect them. If you will not respect your own people, Then the fate will be like this.”
It is not a matter of tickets, but of the feelings of the workers; That’s why BJP’s ideology was chosen
Clarifying the reasons for taking membership of BJP, Ritu Jaiswal said that she has not joined BJP for any personal interest or just for a ticket. She said, “It is not just about the ticket, but about the spirit and respect of the workers. Today I am joining that strong political party, where ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’ is not just a slogan but a reality. Where the national interest is kept paramount and the person standing at the last rung of the society i.e. Antyodaya is talked about. Certainly, where there is such a nationalist ideology, which neither talks about left nor right, but works to connect everyone with the mainstream, What could be a better platform than that for a public representative.”
‘If BJP’s gates are completely opened, the opposition will have no name left’ Sanjay Saraogi
After granting primary membership of BJP to Ritu Jaiswal, senior party leader and MLA Sanjay Saraogi fiercely targeted RJD. Welcoming Ritu Jaiswal to the party, he said that talents are being suffocated within RJD and only sycophants are being given preference there. Saraogi quipped, “Right now all the gates of BJP are closed, the day BJP opens its doors completely, there will be no trace of opposition left in Bihar. Many other big leaders of RJD are also in touch with us and they will soon join BJP expressing confidence in the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
The journey started from Mukhiya, the whole story of Lok Sabha fight and rebellion in Parihar
The political journey of Ritu Jaiswal, who has made her special identity in the country and the world as the head of Singhwani Panchayat of Sitamarhi district, has been very interesting.
-
2020 assembly elections: RJD had made Ritu Jaiswal its candidate from Parihar assembly seat of Sitamarhi. In this very tough contest, she lost the election to BJP’s sitting MLA Gayatri Devi by a very narrow margin of only 1,569 votes. Seeing her fighting spirit, RJD had appointed her as the state president of Mahila Morcha.
-
2024 Lok Sabha elections: The party reposed confidence in him and fielded him from Sheohar Lok Sabha seat. However, here he had to face defeat at the hands of Janata Dal United (JDU)’s strong candidate Lovely Anand by 29,143 votes.
-
2025 election turn and rebellion: The script of Ritu Jaiswal becoming a rebel was written in the 2025 assembly elections. The RJD leadership ordered Ritu to contest from some other reserved seat instead of her traditional Parihar seat. Ritu considered this an insult to the people and workers of her area and went against the party line and jumped into the electoral fray as an independent candidate.
The election results proved RJD’s decision completely wrong. Ritu Jaiswal, contesting as an independent, stood second by getting more than 65 thousand votes, while RJD’s official candidate Smit Gupta (who is the daughter-in-law of former minister Ramchandra Purve) lagged at the third position. In this triangular contest, Gayatri Devi of BJP once again won the election. Now with Ritu Jaiswal also joining BJP, the organizational position of BJP has become very strong in the areas of Parihar and Sitamarhi, whereas it will prove to be a big challenge for RJD to get this stronghold back.
