The online application process for admission to the two-year D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education – erstwhile BTC) training course 2026 in government and private educational institutions of UP is likely to start from the first week of June.
A detailed proposal to start the admission process has already been sent to the Uttar Pradesh Government by the Examination Regulatory Authority (PNP), Prayagraj. Experts believe that as soon as the green signal is received from Lucknow, the official advertisement will be issued within one to two days and the link for online registration will be activated. The wait of lakhs of candidates who have been waiting for this notification for a long time is about to end. This year, the admission process for about 2 lakh 39 thousand seats in DIET and private colleges of the state will be completed. Interested candidates will be able to fill the online form by visiting the official website updeled.gov.in.
Last year (2025), more than 1.44 lakh seats were left vacant, this time better results are expected.
The last session of D.El.Ed in Uttar Pradesh i.e. 2025 was quite disappointing. Last year, admissions could be made only on 40 percent of the total seats. Out of a total of more than 2.39 lakh seats, only 95,000 seats could be filled, due to which more than 1 lakh 44 thousand seats remained vacant.
In this regard, Anil Bhushan Chaturvedi, Secretary of the Examination Regulatory Authority, said that this time the process is being started on time by rectifying the shortcomings of the last session. The proposal has been sent to the government for cabinet approval, so that the classes for the new session can start on time.
Where can D.El.Ed people become teachers?
Historic decision of the Supreme Court: As per the order of the Supreme Court of the country, now only DElEd/BTC degree holders are fully eligible to become primary teachers (classes 1 to 5) in government and recognized schools of the country. Since B.Ed holders were excluded from primary teacher recruitment, the importance of D.El.Ed course and the possibilities of getting a job through it have increased more than ever.
What are the required educational qualifications and age criteria?
To appear in UP D.El.Ed 2026, candidates must fulfill the following eligibility conditions:
1. Educational Qualification:
