There is news of great relief for the railway passengers traveling between Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh and the religious city Varanasi (Banaras). In view of the huge pressure and increasing number of passengers between the two cities, the railway administration has taken a big decision to run another new intercity train regularly.
Till now ‘Varuna Express’ used to run regularly between Lucknow and Varanasi, but now another new daily train service has started from Thursday (28 May 2026).
Train changed from special to regular, train numbers changed
According to Samarth Gupta, Senior DCM of Northern Railway Lucknow Division, the Railway Ministry has now regularized the currently running special train number 04217/04218 (Varanasi-Lucknow-Varanasi Special Express). Now this train will run daily as new train number 14225/14226 (Varanasi-Lucknow-Varanasi Express).
total in this train 15 coaches Will be installed, out of which 13 coaches will be of General Second Class, so that common passengers will get a chance to travel comfortably at low fares.

This train will connect many important religious and business cities between Lucknow and Varanasi. Its complete schedule is as follows:
Train No. 14225 (Varanasi to Lucknow):

Departure: This train departs daily morning from Varanasi station. at 06:20 Will leave.

Routes and Stoppages: Starting from Varanasi, this train will pass through Babatpur, Jaunpur, Shahganj, Malipur, Akbarpur, Goshainganj, Ayodhya Dham, Ayodhya Cantt, Rudauli, Daryabad and Barabanki Junction.

arrival: Afternoon stopping at all these stations at 12:20 This train will reach Lucknow.
Train No. 14226 (Lucknow to Varanasi):

Departure: In return this train departs from Lucknow daily in the evening. at 04:20 Will open.

Routes and Stoppages: It will pass back through the same stations (Barabanki, Daryabad, Rudauli, Ayodhya Cantt, Ayodhya Dham, Goshainganj, Akbarpur, Malipur, Shahganj, Jaunpur, Babatpur).

This decision led to changes in the timings of many other trains.
Due to this new train coming into regular operation, Railways has also made partial amendments in the timings of some other trains on the route:

Ganga Satluj Express (13307): The arrival and departure timings of this train going from Dhanbad to Firozpur have changed at Malipur, Akbarpur, Goshainganj, Bilhar Ghat, Ayodhya Dham Jn., Ayodhya Cantt, Sohawal and Rudauli stations.

Lucknow-Varanasi Superfast (20402): This express train will now run at night as per its new time. at 10:40 Will reach Varanasi station.

Temporary stoppage of 5 trains for Sankranti festival at Uruli station
Additionally, Railway Administration has taken a major step for the convenience of the devotees in view of the annual Sankranti festival and celebration to be held in the month of June at Sri Prayagdham Uruli, located near Pune. The following 5 pairs of trains have been given temporary stoppage of 01 minute at Uruli station:

15030 Pune-Gorakhpur Express: This train running from Pune on June 06 will reach Uruli station at 11:40 am and leave at 11:41 am.

15029 Gorakhpur-Pune Express: This train running from Gorakhpur on May 29 will reach Uruli station at 01:15 pm and leave at 01:16 am.

12104 Lucknow Jn-Pune Express: This train running from Lucknow on 28th May will reach Uruli at 17:04 (05:04) pm and depart at 17:05 pm.

11407 Pune-Lucknow Jn. Express: This train leaving from Pune on 02 June will arrive at Uruli station at 22:15 (10:15) pm and will proceed at 22:16 pm.
