Political activities have intensified regarding the three-tier Panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh. After the decision of the state government to make the outgoing village heads the administrators of gram panchayats, while on one hand there is an atmosphere of happiness, on the other hand a new debate has erupted regarding the reservation formula.
The National Panchayati Raj Gram Pradhan Organization has now raised the demand that reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBC) in the upcoming Panchayat elections should be decided on the basis of the new census data instead of the 2011 census. The organization is soon going to submit a demand letter in this regard to the Dedicated Backward Classes Commission and the State Government.
“It is not right to decide reservation on the basis of 2011 census” Know the mathematics behind this
In a press conference held in a hotel in Lucknow on Wednesday, the organization’s national president Dr. Akhilesh Singh and state president Lalit Sharma gave the concrete reason behind this.
-
Major migration of population: According to the organization, there has been a major change in the rural population of Uttar Pradesh in the last 15 years. rural population of the state Decreased from 78 percent to now around 70 percent is left.
-
Transfer of 8% population: During this period, about 8 percent of the rural population has migrated to cities.
-
logic: When the population structure has changed so much, determining OBC seats on the basis of 15 year old (2011) data would not be logical and would result in many deserving Gram Panchayats not getting proper representation. Therefore, the new census data should be the accurate basis.
Government’s decision welcomed: ‘Yogi will give return gift to the government’
The organization has expressed gratitude to the Uttar Pradesh government for the decision to appoint an administrator. Officials said that this is a historic decision. This system was already in force in states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand, but in UP the heads have fought a long and fact-based battle for it.
Now in honor of this decision, the organization will organize gratitude programs at the district and block level. The Pradhans have announced that they will give a ‘return gift’ to the Yogi government in the coming elections. Along with this, the organization is now working on preparing a Unique Welfare Policy for about 2.50 lakh Pradhans across the country.

-
Limitations on Rights: Panchayati Raj Department has made it clear that the outgoing Pradhan will act as administrator only. routine tasks Will be able to do only.
