1,600 Youths from Bihar Become ‘Cyber Slaves’ Abroad; Lured by High Salaries, They Traveled to Thailand and Cambodia. 1600 youth of Bihar became cyber slaves abroad and went to Thailand-Cambodia in the lure of high salary.

A very surprising and disturbing revelation has come to light regarding the youth of Bihar who dream of going abroad and earning big money and living a luxurious life. About 1,600 citizens of Bihar, who went to work in South Asian countries, have not yet returned to their homeland. The visas of all of them have expired a long time ago. The central and state governments are losing sleep over such a large number of Indian citizens going missing and not returning home.

After the highly sensitive input received from the ‘Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre’ (I4C) of the Union Home Ministry, the investigating agencies of Bihar, especially the Economic Offenses Unit (EOU), have become fully active. The agencies have strong suspicion that all these citizens are being held hostage by international gangs and are being used for ‘cyber slavery’.

‘Honey Trap’ like trap on social media: Passport is confiscated as soon as it reaches

According to information received from intelligence sources, this entire black business is being run by a big syndicate of international cyber mafia and human smugglers.

The modus operandi of this gang is as follows:

  • Attractive Advertisement: Advertisements for high paying fake jobs of ‘Data Entry Operator’ or ‘Customer Support’ are posted on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Telegram.

  • Departure on tourist visa: Unemployed youth, deceived by these advertisements, are sent on ‘tourist visa’ to countries like Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar through fake tour and travel agencies.

  • Torture by taking hostage: As soon as these youth set foot on foreign soil, the local Chinese and international mafia present there forcibly confiscate their passports and valuables. They are then held hostage in heavily guarded military call centres.

Pressure of fraud in its own language: These Bihari youth held hostage are forced to become victims of cyber fraud by intimidating and physically harassing the innocent people of Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh in their local language (Bhojpuri, Maithili, Magahi and Hindi).

Youth of these districts are the biggest victims, police is doing physical verification

According to official data received from Bihar Police Headquarters, of the 1,600 citizens who are missing, most of the youth come from certain border and migrant dominated districts of Bihar. The most prominent districts among these are:

  • Gopalganj and Siwan

  • East Champaran (Motihari) and West Champaran (Bettiah and Bagaha)

  • Gaya and Darbhanga

Considering the seriousness of the situation, local district administration and police teams are now visiting the permanent addresses of these missing citizens and meeting their families. The police is doing this ‘Physical Verification’ to find out whether any victim has secretly contacted his family or a ransom has been demanded. It is a matter of relief that recently with the help of the Ministry of External Affairs, about 60 citizens have been freed from the clutches of these thugs and brought back to India safely.

Noose will be tightened on 39 travel agencies of Delhi-NCR and Bihar

Investigating agencies have detected such active cases in various parts of Delhi, NCR and Bihar. 39 suspicious tour and travel agencies Have been identified, who were involved in the business of fraudulently sending these youth abroad.

Teams of police and cyber experts are soon going to raid the offices of these travel agencies and rigorously interrogate their operators. The process of registering an FIR against all of them under serious non-bailable sections of human trafficking, fraud and IT Act has been started.
