These days, a very unique and dual nature of weather is being seen in Bihar, which is scorching with severe and scorching heat. While the sun’s rays are raining like fire in some districts of the state, on the other hand, strong storm and rain have knocked in some areas. Meteorological Center Patna (IMD) has predicted similar contradictory weather in the state today i.e. Tuesday (26 May 2026).
According to the Meteorological Department, today there are chances of heavy rain, thunder and strong winds in the northern and eastern parts of Bihar, while in many districts of South and South-West Bihar, deadly heat wave (heat wave) will continue with record breaking heat. At the same time, the weather will remain mainly dry in the areas of South-Central Bihar including the capital Patna.
Cyclonic system active, warning of rain and hailstorm in these 24 districts
According to meteorologists, at present there is a strong cyclonic circulation in the atmosphere of South Bihar and its surroundings about 0.9 kilometers above sea level. Due to the effect of this weather system, monsoon activity has intensified in the districts of North-West, North-Central, North-East and South-East Bihar.
Today, the Meteorological Department has announced light rain in some areas of 24 districts of the state – West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Sitamarhi, Shivhar, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar, Madhepura, Saharsa, Jamui, Munger, Banka, Khagaria and Bhagalpur. There is a possibility of moderate rain. During this period, there is a possibility of high speed storm, lightning and hail at some places, in view of which ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued for these districts.
You will sweat in these districts, ‘Orange Alert’ issued for severe heat wave
While half of Bihar is expecting storm and rain, the other part of Bihar is scorching in the furnace of scorching heat. The Meteorological Department has issued an ‘Orange Alert’ in view of the severe heatwave conditions in major districts of the south and south-west of the state such as Buxar, Kaimur, Rohtas, Arwal, Aurangabad and Gaya. The temperature in these areas is expected to be several degrees above normal. In view of the dangers of heat wave and dehydration, doctors and meteorologists have given strict instructions to the local people not to come out of their homes without any essential work from 10 pm to 5 pm.
Weather will remain dry in Patna, but may change at any time
Apart from the capital Patna, at present no serious warning has been issued by the Meteorological Department for districts like Nalanda, Jehanabad, Nawada, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura and Begusarai. The sky is expected to remain clear and the weather dry in these areas today, due to which the humid heat will bother people. However, meteorologists say that due to changing wind patterns, the weather patterns in these districts can change suddenly at any time. Earlier on Monday evening also, many districts of Seemanchal suddenly witnessed dense clouds and good rain along with dusty storm, due to which there has been a slight drop in the temperature.
