Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has given a very good news for the youth who dream of serving the country and becoming a glorious officer in the Indian Army. UPSC has released the official notification of NDA-NA Exam-II 2026 and CDS Exam-II 2026 together (UPSC NDA NA-II & CDS-II Notification 2026).

This time the Commission has announced bumper recruitment for 394 posts in National Defense Academy (NDA) and 451 posts in Combined Defense Services (CDS). The most special thing about this recruitment is that 12th pass youth of the country can present their claim for NDA and graduate youth can present their claim for CDS exam. The process of online application for both the major defense recruitments has started from 20th May 2026. Along with this, the Commission has made it clear that the written examination for both the recruitments will be conducted on 13 September 2026.

UPSC NDA-II 2026: Complete details of vacancy and age limit

A total of 394 posts under NDA-NA Recruitment are divided into different wings as follows:

  • Indian Army: 208 posts (in which 10 posts are reserved for women)

  • Indian Navy: 42 posts (including 5 posts for women)

  • Air Force (Flying Wing): 92 posts (including 2 posts for women)

  • Air Force (Ground Duty Technical): 18 posts (including 2 posts for women)

  • Air Force (Ground Duty Non-Technical): 10 posts (including 2 posts for women)

  • Naval Academy (NA) (10+2 Entry Scheme): 24 posts (in which 3 posts are for women candidates)

Required age qualification: Only those unmarried male and female candidates who were born not earlier than 1 January 2008 and not later than 1 January 2011 are eligible for the NDA exam.

What should be the educational qualification for NDA?

  • For Indian Army: It is mandatory for the candidate to have passed minimum 12th (Intermediate) class from any recognized school or education board.

  • For Navy and Air Force: The candidate must have passed 12th examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) subjects or its equivalent.

  • Note: Students who are currently studying (appearing) in 12th class this year are also eligible to apply for these posts. However, they will have to produce the original passing certificate at the time of SSB interview.

  • Application Fee: Rs 100 for General, OBC and EWS categories, while there is no application fee for SC, ST and all women candidates.

UPSC CDS-II 2026: Know how many posts are there in which academy

The details of total 451 vacancies under CDS-II recruitment for graduate youth are as follows:

  • Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun: 100 posts

  • Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala: 32 posts

  • Air Force Academy (AFA), Hyderabad: 26 posts

  • Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai: 293 posts

Required qualification and age limit for CDS

  • For IMA and OTA: Must have Bachelor (Graduation) degree in any discipline from any recognized university.

  • For Naval Academy (INA): It is necessary to have a Bachelor degree in Engineering (B.Tech/BE) from a recognized institute.

  • For Air Force Academy (AFA): Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university, provided that you have studied Physics and Mathematics subjects at 12th level, or have a degree in Engineering.

  • Age Limit: The age of the candidate for CDS exam should be between 20 to 24 years.

  • Selection Process: The final selection of candidates for both the prestigious Army Recruitments (NDA & CDS) will be done on the basis of a stringent written examination followed by Army Services Selection Board (SSB) Interview and Medical Test.

  • Application Fee: The fee for General, OBC and EWS category candidates is Rs 200, while for SC, ST and women candidates it is completely free.
