Growing stature of BJP: According to Saraogi, since for the first time in Bihar, the Chief Minister has been made from BJP quota, hence the party’s ideology and development agenda will be given priority in the cabinet also.

Performance Based Posts: There is discussion that this time ‘performance’ and ‘regional equations’ will be kept at the top in the selection of ministers. Along with old faces, youth can also get a place in the cabinet.

What will be special in cabinet expansion?

As per the rules of Bihar Assembly (243 seats), maximum 36 ministers Can be created. At present only a few ministers have taken oath with Samrat Chaudhary, leaving many important departments vacant.

Reorganization of departments: The names of experienced leaders are in the race for big departments like Home, Finance and Health.

Balance of Coalition: BJP will try to increase its weightage by keeping pace with allies like JDU and HAM.

After taking oath as Chief Minister on April 15, 2026, Samrat Chaudhary has given instructions to speed up law and order and government work. It is believed that the process of cabinet expansion will be finalized after the election results of West Bengal and other states.
