According to the master plan, separate space will be reserved for ‘IT Hub’, ‘Education City’ and ‘Medical Zone’ in the new area. Along with this, a network of wide roads, underground drainage system and smart grid power system will be laid to improve connectivity within the smart city. Experts believe that this expansion will open new investment opportunities in Ranchi and there will be a huge increase in employment. Search for land intensifies: The government is eyeing these areas. The government has set its eyes on the vacant land and government plots around HEC for the expansion of the smart city. The administration is looking for land that is adjacent to the existing smart city area, so that both the areas can be integrated. According to sources, survey of government land available in some areas of Jagannathpur and Dhurva has been started. As soon as the land allotment process is completed, work on the second phase of this project will be started. Special attention will be given to tourism and environment. Special emphasis has been given on the concept of ‘Green City’ in the Smart City expansion plan. A large portion of the total allotted land will be reserved for parks, water bodies and green belts. There are also plans to create cycle tracks and walking zones within the city, so that pollution can be reduced. Besides, there is also a proposal to build a big ‘Convention Centre’ and ‘Museum’ within the Smart City itself, which will give a new identity to the tourism map of Ranchi in the future. There is a stir in the real estate market, prices may increase. As soon as the news of the expansion of the Smart City comes out, there is a tremendous boom in the real estate market of Dhurva, Hatia and surrounding areas. Investors and builders are now turning towards these areas. Experts believe that in the next 5 years this area will emerge as the most developed and expensive area of Eastern India. The government aims that Ranchi Smart City should not just be a place to live, but should work as a ‘Self-Sustainable Economic Unit’.
