News India Live, Digital Desk: Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has taken a historic step to increase the integrity and transparency of its recruitment examinations. From the upcoming examinations of the year 2026, the Commission has made radical changes in the rules of answer key and objection system. Now if any question in the examination is found wrong or its options are unclear, then marks for that question will not be given to any particular category, but equally to all the candidates appearing in the examination. This decision of the Commission has brought great relief to lakhs of candidates.

The new ‘objection system’ will end the discrepancy

According to the new guidelines issued by the Commission on April 10, 2026, now the process of filing objection on the answer key has been made more scientific and student-friendly. Earlier there used to be confusion among the candidates regarding wrong questions, but now the Commission has made it clear that:

Wrong or unclear question: If the Expert Committee considers that the question is wrong, it will be removed and Full Marks Will be given to all the candidates.

More than one correct option: If two options of a question are found correct, then full marks will be given to those candidates who have chosen any one of the correct options.

Out of syllabus questions: Questions outside the syllabus will also be considered canceled and everyone will get marks for them.

Language error will no longer be a hindrance

It was often seen that due to mistakes in English to Hindi translation, students lagged behind. Under the new rules, if there is a mistake in the Hindi translation of a question, it will be evaluated separately on the basis of that specific language. The objective of the Commission is to ensure that no candidate suffers disadvantage merely because of an error in translation. However, the Commission has also made it clear that if the meaning of the question is clear, minor typing mistakes can be ignored.

Focus on quality of objection

Now it will not be enough for the candidates to merely lodge their objection. According to the new guidelines, the number of objections will not matter, but Quality of Objection And only the ‘Valid Proof’ attached with it will be decisive. If even a single student files an objection with accurate proof, its benefit will be given to the students who appeared for the entire examination. This will curb fake and baseless objections and will speed up the process of preparing results.

There will be direct impact on CGL, CHSL and MTS.

This new rule will be applicable to all major examinations of SSC like CGL 2026, CHSL 2026, MTS and GD Constable. Along with this, the Commission has issued a notification for the 2026 recruitment cycle. ‘Sliding Mechanism’ Has also been introduced, which will speed up the filling of vacant posts and the wait for the waiting list will end. Experts believe that these changes will reduce litigation and selection of eligible candidates will be done in a more fair manner.
