News India Live, Digital Desk: The issue of Shikshamitras has once again become heated in the politics of Uttar Pradesh. Samajwadi Party chief and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has made a scathing attack on the BJP government of the state. He said that the increase in the honorarium of Shikshamitras by the government is not out of respect for them but because of BJP’s ‘fear of defeat’. Akhilesh said in a warning tone that in the upcoming elections, Shiksha Mitras are going to create great problems for the BJP on every seat.

‘It’s not the honorarium, it’s the fear of defeat’

Akhilesh Yadav, while besieging the Yogi government through social media and public meetings, said that the BJP, which did not take care of Shikshamitras for seven and a half years, is remembering them as the elections approach. He termed the honorarium increase as an ‘election lollipop’. The SP President claims that they will take account of the injustice done to Shikshamitras in the coming time by defeating BJP in every Assembly and Lok Sabha seat.

Shikshamitra’s movement and support of SP

Shiksha Mitras have been agitating for a long time in Uttar Pradesh demanding regularization and salary increase. Akhilesh Yadav has been seen standing in his favor since the beginning. He reminded that during the SP government, steps were taken to secure the future of Shikshamitras, which were put on hold by the present government. Akhilesh said that now Shikshamitras have become aware and they will cure this ‘headache’ of BJP with the help of votes.

siege strategy on every seat

The SP chief said that Shikshamitras are not just an employee group, but they have influence in every village and every family. Taking a dig at the BJP, he said that the ‘double engine’ government has forced the youth and teachers to take to the streets. Now this anger will weigh heavily on BJP seats. SP has made it clear that if they come to power, they will find a permanent solution to the problems of Shikshamitras.

BJP’s counterattack and electoral mathematics

On the other hand, BJP has termed Akhilesh’s statements as misleading. The government argues that they have made a historic increase in honorarium on the basis of budget and resources. However, the number of Shikshamitras and their influence in the politics of Uttar Pradesh is so large that no party can afford to upset them. This latest statement of Akhilesh has started a new debate in the election environment.
