News India Live, Digital Desk: The last hopes for peace in West Asia also seem to be dashing. All efforts by Pakistan to establish a ceasefire between America and Iran have completely failed. According to reports on Friday, back-channel talks between the two countries could not reach any conclusion, after which US President Donald Trump has taken the most aggressive stance till date towards Tehran. Trump has clearly warned that if Iran does not accept his conditions, it will face a catastrophe that the world will remember for decades.

Pakistan’s ‘peace mission’ fails, deadlock continues

For the last few days, Pakistan was trying to play the role of mediator between America and Iran. Islamabad had conveyed the US’s 15-point peace proposal to Tehran, but Iran rejected it, calling it ‘one-sided and insulting’. Iran says that no talks are possible until America withdraws its forces from the region and completely ends the sanctions. After this tough stance, this diplomatic effort led by Pakistan has now reached a ‘dead end’.

Trump’s terrible threat: “Will send Iran to the Stone Age”

After the talks failed, President Donald Trump addressed the nation from the White House and made a direct threat to target Iran’s energy infrastructure and nuclear facilities. Trump said, “Iran is playing a dangerous game. We offered them a path to peace, but they rejected it. Now we have no choice. We have the power to send Iran back to the ‘Stone Age’ and the action will be very tough in the next two to three weeks.” Trump also claimed that if Iran dared to close the Strait of Hormuz, it would be opened by force.

Iran’s counterattack: “America will have to face serious consequences”

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) have also shown sharp attitude in response to Trump’s threat. The Iranian military command has said that its missiles and drones are ready to destroy American targets. Iran has warned that if there is even one attack on its soil, it will ‘destroy’ US bases and oil plants of allied countries throughout the Middle East. Iran’s Foreign Ministry also described Trump’s claim that Iran was begging for a ceasefire as ‘false and baseless’.

Panic around the world, oil prices skyrocketing

The direct impact of this increasing tension between America and Iran is beginning to be seen on the global markets. Crude oil prices have reached record levels due to fears of war in the Gulf region. There is a danger of increase in the prices of petrol and diesel in many Asian countries including India. Diplomatic experts believe that if the international community does not intervene in the next few hours, this conflict could turn into a full-fledged ‘world war’, which could affect more than half a dozen countries.
