Indian citizen Nikhil Guptawho was extradited from the Czech Republic to the United States, has now indicated that he will plead guilty in a US court. What is the whole controversy and American demand?

US prosecutors allege that Nikhil Gupta tried to pay a ‘hitman’ (shooter) to murder Pannu on the instructions of an alleged ‘Indian government official’.

Secret Operation: The person whom Nikhil thought was the shooter was actually an American investigative agency. DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) Turned out to be an undercover agent.

Extradition: Nikhil was brought to New York from Prague last year after a long legal battle.

How long can the punishment be?

There are mainly two serious allegations against Nikhil Gupta:

‘Murder-for-hire’: To give contract to someone for murder.

Conspiracy: Involvement in planning murder.
