Lucknow, 02 April (HS). Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa said on Tuesday that till April 01, a total of liquor, drugs, precious metals, free gifts and cash etc. worth Rs 10437.97 lakh have been seized in the departmental action. He said that the model code of conduct is being strictly followed in the entire state.
He said that this included Rs 1852.91 lakh in cash, 745393.13 liters of liquor worth Rs 2577.34 lakh, 5713610.04 grams of drugs worth Rs 4116.64 lakh, 39163.86 grams of precious metals worth Rs 1778.18 lakh, free gifts worth Rs 0.43 lakh and drugs worth Rs 112.47 lakh. Other materials have been seized.
Whereas, if we talk about April 1, liquor, drugs and cash etc. worth a total of Rs 170.80 lakh were seized. In this, cash amount of Rs 32.66 lakh, 24973.53 liters of liquor worth Rs 94.68 lakh, 32330.50 grams of drugs worth Rs 43.47 lakh and other material worth Rs 0.01 lakh have been seized.
He said that in the major seizure, 135 grams of drugs worth Rs 27 lakh were seized in Sultanpur assembly constituency of Sultanpur district and 11393 liters of liquor worth Rs 56.50 lakh was seized in Tundla assembly constituency of Firozabad district. Apart from this, cash amounting to Rs 13 lakh was seized in Lucknow Central Assembly constituency.
