News India Live, Digital Desk: Dharmendra, the ‘He-Man’ of Hindi cinema who ruled millions of hearts with his powerful action and romantic style on screen. Even today at the age of 88, he is active in films and entertaining his fans. But behind this world full of glitz, there is also a heart of a father, who sometimes longs to spend a little more time with his children.

Recently, an old interview of his is going viral again, in which he had expressed such a desire of his heart regarding his sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, that every father and son might have tears in their eyes after hearing this.

“We used to spend a lot of time in childhood, now…”

In an interview given to Aaj Tak, when Dharmendra was asked whether his sons spend as much time with him as he did with his father, his answer was very emotional.

He said, “My father loved me very much. We were like friends. We used to sit together, eat and drink and talk about everything from our heart. I wish, my children… Sunny and Bobby also sit with me… sometimes…”

Dharmendra further said, “Now he has grown up. He is my friend, but there is a distance. I want this distance to end.” He also told that when Sunny and Bobby were young, he used to spend a lot of time with them. Sunny used to eat food sitting on his stomach. Dharmendra also regrets that in today’s fast-paced life, children do not have that much time for their parents.

I have immense love for my sons, but cannot express it.

Dharmendra also admitted that he loves his children very much, but he is never able to express his love openly. He said, “I am not expressive. I think it’s probably an effect of my upbringing.”

This interview brings out a personality of Dharmendra which is completely different from the ‘He-Man’ of the screen – like an ordinary father, who misses the company of his children. It also reminds us that no matter how big a person grows, he always needs the company of his family and especially his children.

This painful statement of Dharmendra is also a message for all those children who forget to give time to their parents in the hustle and bustle of work and life.
