News India Live, Digital Desk: Cervical cancer is a serious and fatal disease in women. But the good news is that it can be prevented to a great extent through vaccination at the right time. With this noble objective, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West has taken a commendable step and vaccinated 26 needy girls against Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). This vaccine is considered very effective in reducing the risk of cervical cancer.

Confluence of awareness and service

This vaccination camp organized by the Rotary Club was organized at the Rotary Club office in Sakchi. The main objective of this camp was not only to vaccinate girls but also to spread awareness about cervical cancer and HPV vaccine in the society.

During the camp, club president Adrika, the guest of honor and gynecologist Dr. Mandakini Ghosh gave detailed information about the causes, symptoms and prevention measures of cervical cancer to the girls present there and their parents. He told that getting HPV vaccine at the age of 9 to 14 years is most effective and it acts as a protective shield to protect girls from this serious disease in future.

The campaign was successful with the support of the society

This campaign of Rotary Club is a beautiful example of cooperation and service to the society. The club said that the vaccine ‘Gardasil-4’ used in this vaccination program was donated by a respected Rotarian fellow. Many members of the club actively participated in this noble initiative.

Club Secretary Shrabani Basu, former President Niyati Dasha, Pratima Singh and other members played an important role in the successful organization of the entire program. He ensured that all the girls and their families who came for vaccination did not face any kind of problem.
