Old Gurugram Metro project: There is a good news for the people of Gurugram. The government’s new plan to further improve metro connectivity in the city has now started coming on the ground. Metro work in Old Gurugram is about to gain momentum, for which officers and employees are preparing to work day and night. Come, let us know how this is going to affect your life.

Houses are being built for 1200 employees, work will run 24 hours

Metro work in Old Gurugram may gain rocket speed from November 15 onwards as preparations are on to run it day and night. About 1200 officers and employees will work on this big project. For their living, temporary houses are being built on seven acres of land in the casting yard of Sector-33 itself.

The project is being looked after by Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL), which has awarded a contract worth Rs 1277 crore for the first phase of work. Accommodation arrangements for the employees are being made so that there is no interruption in the work and the project is completed on time. A canteen is also being prepared for food and drinks.

Soil testing for metro pillars almost complete

At present, pile testing is going on at 10 different places on the road divider from Millennium City Center Metro Station to Subhash Chowk. In simple language, the strength of the ground is being checked before erecting the metro pillars. The reports so far have been quite good and this work will be completed in the next 15 days. After this the work of making pillars will be started.

You will get great relief from daily traffic jams

Due to Metro work, one lane at a time has been closed by barricading at many places from Millennium City Center to Subhash Chowk. Due to this, the U-turn near Signature Tower has also been closed, due to which people have to take a long route and are facing severe traffic jams.

Understanding this problem, it has now been decided to make a new U-turn near the last pillar of the metro in front of the GMDA office.

Service road will open in 15 days

The biggest relief is that the about 6 kilometer long service road from Millennium City Center to Subhash Chowk will be opened for vehicles in the next 10 to 15 days. This service road was earlier closed due to the cycle track, but now opening it will reduce the pressure of vehicles on the main road. The branches of trees which were creating difficulty in visibility on the road have also been asked to be cut so that the road remains clear.

Officials made complete traffic plan

To ensure minimum inconvenience to the people during metro work, officials of GMDA, GMRL and traffic police have held a meeting together. The traffic police has visited the entire route and has decided that traffic related information boards will be installed at various places so that the drivers can get information about the correct route and avoid jams.
