Ration Card E-KYC: Ration card is a lifeline for millions of families in India. This not only guarantees cheap or free food grains, but is also an essential document to take advantage of many government schemes. But now there is big news for ration card holders. The government has implemented a new rule to make the ration distribution system more transparent. Under this, all ration card holders will have to complete the e-KYC process of their ration card by 30 June 2025. If this work is not done on time, the name can be removed from the ration card and the availability of free or cheap ration can stop.

Why is the ration card e-KYC necessary?

The government aims to further strengthen the ration distribution system. Many times it has been seen that some people incorrectly take advantage of the ration card, such as making fake cards or taking ration despite being ineligible. Along with this, it has also been seen in many cases that even after the death of the people, their family members continue to benefit in their names. To prevent this, the government has made e-KYC mandatory.

Dream signal: Can your dreams change your destiny?

This process is done through the Aadhaar card, in which the identity of the ration card holder and all his family members is verified. E-KYC will ensure that the benefit of ration reaches only eligible and needy people. The government had earlier set a deadline of March 31, 2025, but many people faced lack of technical problems and information. So now it has been extended till 30 June 2025.

How to do ration card e-KYC?

E-KYC for ration card holders is not a complex process. This can be completed in both offline and online methods. For offline process, you have to go to your nearest ration shop or Common Service Center (CSC). There you will have to carry your ration card and Aadhaar card of all family members. Your biometric verification (eg fingerprint or facial scanning) will be done through a POS machine at the ration shop. After this your ration card will be linked to Aadhaar.

For online processing, you can use apps like ‘My Ration’ or ‘Aadhaar Face RD’. Download these apps from Google Play Store, enter your Aadhaar number and complete the verification through OTP. Then complete the process by turning on the camera to scan the face. This method is especially easy for those who are a bit familiar with the technology.

Disadvantages of not working on time

If you do not get e-KYC by 30 June 2025, it can have serious consequences. First, your ration card can be canceled or deactivated. This means that you will stop getting free or cheap ration. Apart from this, the names of those who have not done KYC can be out of the beneficiary list, which will make it difficult to get the benefit of government schemes. If the ration card is canceled, you have to apply to the Food Department to reactivate it, which may take both time and effort.
