History of the fountain
The Trevi Fountain was built in 1762. It covers one side of Palazzo Poli in central Rome. It contains a statue of the Tritons guiding the chariot of Oceanus. It symbolizes stopping the flow of water. Famous Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini filmed a scene from La Dolce Vita at this location. In this scene the hero and heroine stepped into the fountain. But now entry into this fountain has been banned. A fine is imposed for doing so.
