Gwalior, 6 December (Hindustan Reporter). The atmosphere of Gwalior, the city of music, will be fragrant with the sweet accompaniment of musical instruments today (Friday) evening. The occasion will be a musical gathering being organized in the name of “Musical Glory of Gwalior”. Keeping in mind the centenary of “Tansen Samaroh”, this gathering of melodious music as an invocation will be organized at the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM) today at 5 pm. This program has been named “Tansen Swar Smriti”. Collector Ruchika Chauhan has appealed to music and art lovers to enjoy this program.
Collector Ruchika Chauhan said that this year is the centenary of the country and the world’s most prestigious classical music annual festival “Tansen Samaroh”, organized in the memory of Sangeet Shiromani Tansen. This year the festival is going to be held from 15th to 19th December. Before the ceremony, with the aim of creating a pleasant and positive atmosphere for the ceremony in the music city of Gwalior, the district administration has prepared the outline of “Tansen Swar Smriti” with the help of music and art connoisseurs of the city. Under which musical gatherings will be organized in the name of “Musical Glory of Gwalior” today and “Galav Vadya Vrind – Sur Taal Samagam” on 10th December.
The journey of Gwalior’s musical glory will be seen on the screen along with the art stage.
Under “Tansen Swar Smriti” the program “Musical Splendor of Gwalior” will be presented by Raja Mansingh Tomar Music and Arts University. In this program of about two hours duration, the historical journey of music of Gwalior will be shown. In which an attempt will be made to tell the history of the three styles of music – singing, playing and dancing and the contribution of their artists from the beginning to the present. The special feature of this program will be that when the genre or art about which the facilitator will tell, that art will also be performed on the stage by young artists along with music. Besides, the places and artists associated with it will also be shown on the big screen. The concept, coordination and direction of this program was done by the Vice Chancellor of Raja Mansingh Tomar Music and Arts University, Prof. It is done by Smita Sahastrabuddhe. This program will be realized on stage by the performance of a total of 45 artists.
There will be captivating presentations of classical dance along with singing and playing.
Vice Chancellor of Raja Mansingh Tomar Music and Arts University, Prof. Sahastrabuddhe said that Gwalior has a long association with music, hence through this program an attempt has been made to bring the musical journey of Gwalior on stage and screen. In this, information will be given about the development of singing, playing and dancing arts and their styles. This includes Dhrupad style of Raja Mansingh Tomar and Tansen, Khayal singing including Dhamar style of Baiju Bawra, Chaturanga Geet style, Thumri, Sargam, Ashtapadi, Tappa styles, Sitar playing in vocal instruments, violin, Pakhawaj in Avandha instrument, Tabla playing, In dance, beautiful presentations of Kathak, Bharatnatyam and folk dance will be seen and heard.
