Indian Railways: Recently, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved three projects related to railways. Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh will benefit from this project. The country’s railway network will also be expanded and new tracks will be laid in 3 states and 7 districts.
Covering seven districts in three states namely Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, the scheme will add approximately 639 km to India’s existing railway network.
The proposed multi-tracking project will extend connectivity to the two districts of Khandwa and Chitrakoot, serving about 1,319 villages and a population of about 39 lakh. The proposed project will also increase connectivity on the Mumbai-Prayagraj-Varasani route with the capacity to handle additional passenger trains. This will benefit pilgrims visiting Jyotirlingas in Nashik (Trimbakeshwar), Khandwa (Omkareshwar), and Varanasi (Kashi Vishwanath) as well as religious places in Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, Gaya, and Shirdi.

Moreover, these projects will improve tourism in various attractions like Khajuraho UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ajanta and Ellora Caves UNESCO World Heritage Site, Devagiri Fort, Asirgarh Fort, Rewa Fort, Yawal Wildlife Sanctuary, etc. Sanctuary, Kevati Falls and Purva Falls etc. will be encouraged.
