New Delhi, 23 October (Hindustan Reporter). Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra today filed her nomination for the Lok Sabha by-election from Kerala's Wayanad seat. She is survived by her mother and MP (Rajya Sabha) Sonia Gandhi, her brother and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, husband Robert Vadra, son Rehan Vadra and the party's national Nomination was filed in the presence of Chairman Mallikarjun Kharge. Before filing nomination, all these leaders participated in a road show.
Addressing the people during the road show, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, “For the last 35 years, I have been campaigning for the party and for one candidate or the other in various elections. This is the first time I am seeking support for myself. He also thanked Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for giving him the privilege of becoming the candidate from Wayanad.
Priyanka Gandhi had reached Mysore with her mother Sonia Gandhi on the night of 22 October, where she was welcomed by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar at the airport. After this both of them reached Wayanad (Kerala) by road. Where he filed his nomination today. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who has been active in the political field for a long time, is participating in electoral politics for the first time.
It is noteworthy that Rahul Gandhi had won from Wayanad for the second time in the Lok Sabha elections 2024. This time, along with Wayanad, Rahul also won the Rae Bareli seat of Uttar Pradesh, which is said to be the family seat of his mother Sonia Gandhi. Seeing the importance of Uttar Pradesh, Rahul Gandhi had left the Wayanad seat and then made it clear that a member of his family would represent him from here. Due to this, by-elections are now being held on Wayanad seat. Last time, Rahul Gandhi had defeated Annie Raja of Communist Party of India and K Surendran of Bharatiya Janata Party from here. Rahul got a total of 6,47,445 votes. He won by a margin of more than 3 lakh votes. Annie Raja stood second.
Voting is to be held in Wayanad on November 13 and the results will be declared on November 23. BJP has given ticket to Navya Haridas against Priyanka Gandhi here. Navya is a two-time councilor in the Kozhikode Municipal Corporation and leader of the BJP councilor party in the Municipal House. She is also the state general secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha. Navya Haridas has filed her nomination. Senior CPI leader Satyan Mokeri has been declared the Left Democratic Front candidate from here.
