Ranchi, September 26 (HS). Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that the door to development opens through villages. In such a situation, the state will become strong only with the prosperity of the farmers. Our government is constantly taking concrete decisions towards making farmers self-reliant. Soren was addressing the Jharkhand Agricultural Loan Waiver Scheme program organized by the Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperatives on Thursday at Prabhat Tara Ground in Dhurva, the capital Ranchi.
The Chief Minister said that this is not a loan waiver scheme program, but it is a Mahajutan program in honor of the farmers. On this occasion, the Chief Minister gave a big gift to 1,76,977 farmers of the state by waiving their loans up to two lakh rupees. The loan of about Rs 400.66 crore of all these farmers was repaid by the state government. The Chief Minister also unveiled the Birsa Kisan Integrated Portal of the Agriculture Department in this program.
The Chief Minister said that today farmers are facing many challenges. Due to the poverty of farmers and lack of capital, agricultural work is getting affected. In such a situation, with the aim of giving relief to the farmers, our government has decided to waive their agricultural loans up to two lakh rupees so that by strengthening their financial condition, they can get a chance to make a new beginning in the field of agriculture.
The Chief Minister said that 80 percent of the population of Jharkhand lives in rural areas. The farmers and laborers here are dependent on agriculture for their livelihood. In such a situation, their farm is their bank and the barn is their ATM. But, the condition of the farmers today is not hidden. They are doing agriculture work amidst adverse conditions. Many times, due to the weather, the crops are damaged a lot, the brunt of which they have to bear for a long time. Our government is continuously working to help the farmers come out of these adverse conditions. In this episode, our government took a historic decision to waive off the loan of up to two lakh rupees taken by the farmers for agricultural work, so that the farmers can be provided with financial security cover.
The Chief Minister said that despite being rich in mineral and forest resources, Jharkhand is a backward state. People here are still living a poor life. In such a situation, the way we fought to get Jharkhand, we will fight to get our rights so that this state can progress. The Chief Minister said that farmers are the backbone of this country and state. Till the time farmers do not become self-reliant, this state will not progress. Today farmers need to recognize their strength. Just as our farmers work hard in the fields, in the same way they will have to move forward unitedly for their honor and rights.
The Chief Minister said that the geographical environment of Jharkhand is quite unique. Every kind of crop can be grown in the soil here. But, there is a need to make a better policy for this. There should be an initiative to train farmers on the production of different types of crops. If we move in that direction, then we will definitely see its pleasant results.
The Chief Minister said that today, the way the weather remains uncertain, farmers will have to go for alternative farming along with traditional farming. For this, many schemes like Birsa Harit Gram Yojana, Didi Bari Yojana, Chief Minister Pashudhan Yojana, Neelambar-Pitambar Jal Samridhi Yojana and Didi Bagiya Yojana are being run by our government. Our government has appointed agriculture officers for the first time, so that they can make farmers aware of the new and modern techniques of crop production. Through Kisan Pathshaala, farmers are getting training for agricultural work along with giving information related to farming. Not only this, farmers are being motivated and encouraged by engaging them in egg, milk and fish production. Our effort is to increase the income of our farmers, so that they can play their part in strengthening the state.
The Chief Minister said that our government is working for the development and welfare of every class and section. We have given pension to the elderly and are giving Samman Rashi to women. The process of providing employment to the youth is going on on a large scale. Savitribai Phule Kishori Yojana is being run to encourage girls towards studies. To ensure that the dreams of the promising students of this place to become engineers, doctors and officers do not remain unfulfilled due to lack of money, the government is giving them education loan up to Rs 15 lakh on its guarantee under Guruji Credit Card Yojana. Our government has waived off loans of up to Rs 2 lakh of farmers. Along with waiving off the outstanding electricity bill, 200 units of electricity are being given for free. In our government, everyone including tribals, natives, Dalits, women, youth, elderly, backward and minorities are getting opportunities to move forward.
The Chief Minister said that our government is working 24 hours a day in the service of the people with full sensitivity, integrity, honesty and dedication. Today the government is reaching your doorstep and solving your problems. We are rapidly moving towards fulfilling the basic needs of the people like food, clothing and shelter. In this series, 20 lakh additional ration cards are being issued and free food grains are being given. A scheme has been started to provide Abhu housing to 20 lakh poor people. Under the Sona-Sobran Dhoti Sari Yojana, dhoti saree and lungi are being given to the poor. Our effort is to strengthen the rural economy so that the poor farmers and laborers here can move forward towards becoming empowered and self-reliant.
In the presence of the Chief Minister, an MoU was signed for five years between the Secretary of Agriculture Department Abu Bakar Siddique and Executive Director of NDDB, Anand, Gujarat S Raghupati to promote the dairy industry. Under this, about 68 thousand milk producers will be linked. Apart from this, milk producers will also be given an incentive of Rs 5 per liter in addition to the fair price of milk production.
