According to the special weather warnings issued by the Meteorological Department, Ranchi, from today till June 28, intermittent rains will continue across Jharkhand. Particularly, there is a strong possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in Santal Pargana, Deoghar, Dumka, Godda, and Sahibganj as well as in the southern part of the state i.e. East and West Singhbhum. Additionally, north-western districts like Palamu, Garhwa and Chatra are also expected to receive heavy rain and thundershowers. The Meteorological Department has instructed farmers and common citizens to be especially alert regarding intense thunder and lightning during this 5-day spell.

Special advice from meteorologists regarding thunderstorms, avoid going to fields

In Jharkhand, lightning strikes become a serious natural disaster during monsoon and pre-monsoon. Keeping this in mind, the head of the Meteorological Center has issued guidelines for the people of rural areas, especially the farmers and cattle herders working in the fields. The administration has said that whenever there are dense clouds in the sky or the sound of lightning is heard, then immediately take shelter in permanent houses or safe shelters. Do not stand near big trees, electric poles or water sources. Switch off electronic devices and wait for the weather to become normal.

This rain became a lifesaver for farming, farmers’ faces blossomed

With the onset of this monsoon rain, agriculture related activities have intensified in the rural areas of Jharkhand. The faces of farmers who have been suffering from dry fields and water shortage for a long time have lit up with happiness. According to agricultural experts, this heavy rain in the last week of June will act as a lifesaver for preparing paddy nursery (Bichda) and sowing of maize. The fields where the soil had completely dried up now have adequate moisture. The Agriculture Department of the State Government has also advised the farmers to take advantage of this favorable weather trend, select improved varieties of seeds and finalize the preparations for Kharif crops.
