On Wednesday, 30 July 2025 dawn, Russia brought a geopolitical disaster on the banks of the far -fanned peninsula in Russia which hurt the entire Pacific Ocean region. A powerful 8.7 magnitude earthquake shook the earth, resulting in a comprehensive Pacific Ocean tsunami warning. In the initial assessment, the American Geological Survey (USGS) had estimated the intensity of the earthquake at 8.0, but was later upgraded to 8.7, which was one of the largest earthquakes in the area in decades.

This powerful earthquake focused at a shallow depth of only 19.3 kilometers (12 mi), which makes it extremely destructive. Its center was located near the Avacha Bay, about 125 km (80 mi) from the city of Petropavlovsk-Kampachtski, Avacha Bay.
