A major accident occurred in Baraut town of Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday morning. During the Nirvana Laddu festival of Lord Adinath in the ground of Shri Digambar Jain Degree College, the stairs made of wood suddenly collapsed. 7 devotees died in the accident, while more than 80 people were injured. The dead include 2 women and 5 men.

How did the accident happen?
The accident took place in the grounds of Shri Digambar Jain Degree College on Gandhi Road, Barot. A 65 feet high wooden platform and stairs were made for the consecration of the statue of Lord Adinath on the Maan Pillar here. When the devotees started climbing the stairs, suddenly the stairs fell and fell.
After this accident, there was a stampede among the devotees. The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital, but e-rickshaws and other means were resorted to due to non-availability of ambulances on the spot.
