18 years of waiting and huge ruckus in the examination, candidates created ruckus when question papers were less in Kerala School, Ranchi:

News India Live, Digital Desk: The Jharkhand Eligibility Test (JET) 2024, which was conducted on Sunday (April 26, 2026) after a long gap of almost 18 years, appeared to be marred by irregularities. There was a huge uproar at the Kerala School Examination Center located in the HEC residential complex of the capital Ranchi when the candidates came to know that the number of question papers there was less. Due to shortage of about 120 question papers, hundreds of students were deprived of appearing for the examination, following which a ‘curfew’ like atmosphere was created at the centre.

Kerala school became an arena: Candidates surrounded it

A total of seating arrangements for more than 600 candidates were made at the Kerala School Center in Ranchi. At the time of the commencement of the examination, the officials realized that the bundle of question papers was less in number. Within no time the news spread throughout the center and angry candidates started creating ruckus by boycotting the examination. The candidates alleged that this negligence of the Commission has ruined their years of hard work. Many students expressed their displeasure and said that they had come by train and bus from far-flung districts, but due to the failure of the administration, their examinations could not start.

Work on papers of absent students started, exam started late by 1 hour

Seeing the worsening of the situation, the central administrators and district administration officials hurriedly tried to find a middle path. The question papers of the students who were absent in the examination were distributed among the present students. Due to all this struggle, the examination started late by about an hour from its scheduled time. However, by then many students were so mentally disturbed that they started protesting outside the examination hall.

Crisis in Bokaro too: Exams of two subjects canceled

The chaos was not limited to Ranchi only. There was a huge uproar at a major center in Bokaro also due to shortage of question papers and papers being sent to the wrong centre. Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) has taken a strict stance in this matter in Bokaro. Oriya and Education It has been decided to cancel the subject examinations. According to the Commission, question papers of these subjects could not reach in sufficient numbers, due to which it was not possible to conduct the examination.

The system has not improved even after 18 years!

Let us tell you that the last time Jharkhand Eligibility Examination was held in the state was in the year 2007-08. This time around 1.75 lakh candidates from across the state were appearing in this examination conducted for 43 subjects. Students have raised sharp questions on the functioning of the commission on social media. He says that such a huge lapse in conducting the examination for which he waited 18 years puts a question mark on the seriousness of the administration.
