Something similar is happening this time on the Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Magh month i.e. ‘Shattila Ekadashi’. Ekadashi Tithi starts from the evening of 13th January, but the scriptures and scholars believe that ‘Udaya Tithi’ (the date at the time of sunrise) has the best value.

When to observe the fast: 13 January or 14 January?
If seen, Ekadashi date is falling on the evening of 13th January and it will remain till the afternoon of 14th January. According to the tradition of Sanatan Dharma, fast is observed on the day which occurs at the time of sunrise. According to this 14 January 2026 (Wednesday) Keeping the fast will be most fruitful. On this day, devotees will worship Lord Vishnu with full rituals.

Why the name Shattila Ekadashi?
The meaning of this Ekadashi is hidden in its name itself. ‘Shat’ means six and ‘Til’ means black or white sesame seeds. According to religious beliefs, sesame seeds are eaten on this day. 6 different ways It is necessary to use it. It is believed that by doing this, sins committed unknowingly are removed and life becomes prosperous.

  2. Applying sesame paste on the body.
  3. Worshiping God and performing havan with sesame seeds.
  4. Offering offerings to ancestors with sesame seeds.
  5. Donating sesame seeds.
  6. Consuming fruit made from sesame seeds.

Why is the time of Parana important?
The full results of any Ekadashi fast are achieved only when it is broken on time. Auspicious time of Paran for people observing fast on 14th January morning of january 15th will be. Try to eat satvik food during Parana and can consume rice (because rice is prohibited on the day of Ekadashi, but it has importance in Parana).
