Between the scorching heat and heat in many parts of the country, the weather patterns in the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) have changed slightly. After strong sunlight on Tuesday, light drizzle and strong winds in many areas gave some relief from the heat. However, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has released a ‘Yellow alert’ for the capital and surrounding areas, meaning that the effect of heat may continue, but there will be a possibility of splashing with rain and thunder at some places.

On Tuesday, 3 June 2025, the maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 44 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 33 degrees Celsius. At the same time, a similar temperature was seen in the cities of NCR, such as Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Noida and Faridabad. The Meteorological Department said that these areas are expected to blow light drizzle, thunder with thunder and strong winds at a speed of 30-40 kilometers per hour for these areas on Wednesday (June 4) and next few days. There is also a possibility of lightning fall in some places.

Even though these changes do not give great relief immediately, they can bring the temperature down a few degrees for a short time. However, meteorologists say that complete and permanent relief will be available only when the southwest monsoon reaches Delhi. The expected date of monsoon is still a few weeks away.

The department has advised people to take special precautions to protect against heat. This includes avoiding going in the open, drinking sufficient amount of water, wearing light clothes and avoiding especially in the sun in the afternoon. In view of Yellow alert, people are advised to monitor the local weather updates and take precautions, as strong winds or lightning may pose a threat to some places.
