Required Ingredients:
Fresh Celery Leaves: 1-2 cups (well washed and dried)
Chili Flakes: (optional, for spiciness)
Garlic Powder: (to enhance flavor, optional)
Method of preparation (Step-by-Step):
Step 1: Cleaning the Leaves First of all, pluck fresh leaves from the celery plant. Wash them thoroughly with water to remove all dust and dirt. After washing, spread them on a cotton cloth and dry them in the fan air (there should be no water left in them at all).
Step 2: Microwave Method (Fastest – 5 minutes)
Place a paper towel on a microwaveable plate and spread the leaves on it.
Microwave it for 1-2 minutes.
Take out and check, if the leaves are not crisp, then heat again at an interval of 30-30 seconds until they start breaking when touched with your hand.
Step 3: Tawa Method (Gas Chulha – 15 minutes)
If you don’t have a microwave, heat a heavy-bottomed pan.
Place the leaves on the pan on low flame and keep stirring continuously.
The color of the leaves will start changing slightly and they will dry up and become hard. Keep in mind that the leaves should not burn.
Step 4: Crushing When the leaves are completely dry and cool, crush them lightly by rubbing them between your palms or by putting them in a mortar. Your homemade oregano is ready!
How to store?
