The condition became so bad that the minister and his supporters trapped inside started suffocating, after which they had to be taken out by breaking the door of the lift.

This incident took place at Hotel Pratap International located at Magardahi Ghat in Samastipur. Minister Maheshwar Hazari was staying on the fourth floor of the hotel in connection with his election campaign. On Saturday morning, when he was coming down the lift with some of his supporters, as soon as he reached the second floor, the lift overload alarm started ringing and suddenly got stuck in the middle.
As soon as the lift stopped, the siren started ringing inside, causing chaos in the hotel. The people trapped inside got scared and started screaming. People started suffocating after being in the closed lift for about an hour.
