According to the scriptures, Diwali is celebrated every year on Kartik Amavasya Tithi, but this time there is confusion as Amavasya Tithi falls on both 31 October and 01 November. According to the Vedic calendar, this year Amavasya Tithi will start on 31st October at 3:12 pm, which will continue till 05:14 pm on 01st November. After this Pratipada Tithi will start. According to the Vedic calendar, Lakshmi Puja on Diwali is always performed on Amavasya Tithi and Pradosh Kaal i.e. from sunset till late night. In such a situation, it would be auspicious to celebrate Diwali on 31st October in the auspicious time of Amavasya Tithi, Pradosh Kaal and Nishita Kaal.
