Manipur Violence: Violence has erupted once again in Jiribam district of Manipur. Five people have died in indiscriminate firing between Kuki and Meitei groups. The suspects set a house on fire. According to information received from sources, indiscriminate firing is going on at the spot. The attack took place in Nungsekpi of Jiribam district, which is about 7 km away from Jiribam police station.

In this case, a police officer said that a person sleeping in the house was shot dead. At the same time, 4 other people died in indiscriminate firing between armed men of two opposing groups.

Police said the militants barged into the house of a man living alone in a remote area about 5 km from the district headquarters and shot him dead while he was sleeping. The killing was followed by a fierce gunfight between armed men of warring communities in the hills about 7 km away in which 4 militants, including 3 hill terrorists, were killed.

Earlier on Friday night, suspected extremists had attacked the house of former Chief Minister Merambam Koireng with a rocket. In this incident, an old man died and six people were injured.

A few days ago, three people were injured in another drone bomb attack in Senjam Chirang in Manipur. Manipur Police gave this information in a statement on X. They also said that security forces are deployed in the area. The latest attack comes a day after the Manipur drone attack by multiple drones launched by 'suspected Kuki insurgents' in Koutruk village of Imphal West district.

More than 200 people were killed

More than 200 people have been killed in sexual violence in Manipur since May last year and the situation has not returned to normal even after a year.
