Political Desk: The political temperature in the country is already heated due to the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the paper leak issue, but in the meantime, Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Deepke, who is leading the movement, has given such a controversial statement regarding social activist Anna Hazare, which has created a new controversy. After his statement, a heated debate has erupted from social media to political circles.
“People aged 60-70 should retire and sit in the ashram” – Abhijeet Deepke
Abhijeet Deepke, who was protesting at Jantar Mantar in Delhi for the last 18 days, had come to join a demonstration of students in his home district Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. During this time, when journalists asked him whether he would meet Anna Hazare regarding this movement, he flatly refused.
Deepke said in a harsh tone, “Not at all! I think the youth should now take things in their own hands. Those who are in their 60-70s, they should retire – be it politics or activism. They should go and sit in an ashram. This is a question of our future, the future of the students, let us decide. How long will the old people continue to take our decisions?”
People angry over the statement, surrounded Deepke regarding Sonam Wangchuk
After this statement of Abhijeet Deepke, he is being heavily criticized on social media. Users are calling him a hypocrite on his ‘age shaming’ statement. People say that on one hand Deepke is talking about sidelining the elders and Anna Hazare, while on the other hand he is putting forward 59-60 year old Sonam Wangchuk for his movement and getting her to go on a hunger strike. People raised the question, “If you don’t want to take inspiration from the elders, then why don’t you sit on a fast yourself? Why are you pushing Wangchuk forward?”
