Violence during the screening of Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’ in Britain, India expressed strong objection

India’s Foreign Ministry (Mea) has expressed deep concern over violent incidents during the screening of the film ‘Emergency’ in Britain. These incidents have revealed incidents of attacks and bullying in theaters by pro -Khalistan masked persons. The Ministry of External Affairs has expected the British government to ensure strict action against the people involved in these incidents.

India’s response

Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal condemned these incidents and said:

“Freedom of expression should not be selective use. Those who are interrupting it have to be held accountable. ”

He appealed to the British administration to take strict action against responsible persons and ensure the safety of the Indian community. Jaiswal also said that the Indian High Commission in London is in constant touch with the local community.

Protests and violence

Masked Khalistan supporters were attacked during the film’s screening at the London View Cinema on Sunday.

  • The protesters raised anti -India slogans and threatened the audience.
  • The cinema management stopped the screening for security reasons.

Due to pressure from British Sikh groups, several theaters in Birmingham, Wolverhampton, and West London canceled the film’s prescribed screening. The protesters claim that the film “promotes the anti -Sikh Indian state”.

British MP’s response

UK opposition Conservative Party MP Bob Blackman expressed concern over these incidents. He said in the British Parliament (House of Commons):

“It is very worrying that the screening of the film is being interrupted. The audience has the right to watch the film in a peaceful atmosphere. ”

Blackman demanded the Home Minister to intervene and ensure that the audience had the opportunity to watch a film approved by the censor in a safe environment.
