Vigilant BSF soldiers on the border shot down 290 drones and seized more than three and a half quintals of drugs, breaking the spirits of Pakistani smugglers.

BSF alert on New Year’s Eve

While New Year is being celebrated across the country, BSF personnel deployed on the international border of India and Pakistan are keeping a close watch on the Punjab border and smugglers. BSF soldiers are patrolling the border day and night to stop the smuggling of narcotics, weapons and other anti-national activities from neighboring country Pakistan into Indian territory.

Troops of various sector battalions under BSF Frontier Punjab have prevented hundreds of drones from entering Indian territory during air violation incidents along the International Border in the year 2024. During this period, BSF has also achieved major success in recovering around 290 drones, narcotics and weapons sent by Pakistani smugglers from the borders of Punjab.

According to sources, since January 15, 2024, BSF has recovered 290 drones from the border. Apart from this, this year BSF jawans seized 281.279 kg of narcotics, while the price of heroin in the international market is said to be around Rs five crore per kg. BSF has also seized 36 different types of weapons, 414 rounds and 47 magazines sent to Indian territory by Pakistani smugglers this year.

This year, BSF troops apprehended 161 suspected citizens from the Indian border, including 94 smugglers and 67 suspicious persons. Also, 30 Pakistanis, two Bangladeshis and one Afghan were caught on the border and four infiltrators trying to cross the barbed wire were also killed.

BSF has taken strict action against drones and narcotics sent by Pak smugglers in 2024 and the troops deployed on the border have kept a strict vigil on the activities of anti-national elements. To counter drone activities, BSF is using anti-drone equipment, which is showing good results. Even during the winter season, BSF personnel are on full alert and keeping a close watch on anti-national elements.
