There is a very good news for lakhs of government employees and their families of Uttar Pradesh. Soon there is going to be a huge jump in his salary, due to which his monthly earnings will increase significantly. This step of Yogi Adityanath government is going to directly benefit lakhs of families of the state. Let us know how and when this will happen.
8th pay commission is coming
This big change will happen after the formation of the 8th Pay Commission. Let us tell you that this commission is constituted by the central government, and then its recommendations are implemented by the state governments. This means that along with the central employees, the employees of Uttar Pradesh will also get the gift of increased salary. The tenure of the 7th Pay Commission ends in December 2025, and the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission are expected to come into effect from January 1, 2026.
How much will your salary increase?
The biggest question in the minds of employees is how much will the salary increase? This increase will be decided on the basis of ‘fitment factor’. Fitment factor is a kind of multiplier which is multiplied by your basic salary. Suppose your basic salary is Rs 18,000 and fitment factor is fixed at 2.0, then your new basic salary will directly double to Rs 36,000.
According to sources, the fitment factor in the 8th Pay Commission is estimated to be between 1.92 to 2.86 times.[3] If this happens, then there is sure to be an increase of more than 80 percent in the salaries of UP employees.
Dearness Allowance (DA) will become zero
Another major change will be that as soon as the new salary is implemented, dearness allowance i.e. DA will become zero. This will happen because the existing DA gets added to the new basic pay itself. Don’t worry, this will not cause you any loss, rather your basic salary will increase significantly, due to which DA and other allowances received in future will also be calculated on the increased basic salary. At present, employees in UP are getting 58% dearness allowance.
When will you get the benefit of increased salary?
Since the tenure of the Seventh Pay Commission is ending in December 2025, the Eighth Pay Commission is to be implemented from January 1, 2026. However, it may take until 2027 to finalize and implement the Commission’s recommendations. But the good news is that the arrears will be paid to the employees from January 1, 2026 itself. That is, whenever it is implemented, you will get the increased money of months at once.
