In the politics of Uttar Pradesh, the excitement regarding the assembly elections to be held in the year 2027 has already intensified. In this connection, the Yogi government of the state has taken a major administrative and political step and made a major reshuffle in the districts in charge of ministers. In the new list released by the government, the work areas of many senior ministers have been changed, while an attempt has been made to strengthen the organization and the government by handing over the command of important districts to the new faces who became part of Team Yogi during the recent cabinet expansion.
It is believed that the direct objective of this reshuffle is to speed up the implementation of government schemes at the grassroots level and to increase the reach of ministers among the public.
CM and Deputy CM will have 25 districts each.
There has been no change in the role of the top leadership even under the new system. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and both the Deputy Chief Ministers (Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brijesh Pathak) will continue to have supervision and charge of 25-25 districts as before. The main changes have been seen at the level of cabinet ministers and ministers of state.
Districts in charge of cabinet ministers
Among the senior cabinet ministers, Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna has been given a very important responsibility and has been made the minister in charge of the capital Lucknow and Baba Vishwanath’s city Varanasi. Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh will now take charge of Prayagraj and Chief Minister’s home constituency Gorakhpur.
The complete list of cabinet ministers and their allotted districts can be seen in the table below:
New responsibilities of Minister of State (Independent Charge)
Ministers of State (Independent Charge) have also been sent to important districts keeping in mind the electoral equations. Nitin Aggarwal has got the command of Lakhimpur Kheri and Aseem Arun has got the command of big districts of western UP like Hardoi and Meerut.
State ministers got the responsibility of these districts
Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh has been made the minister in charge of Pratapgarh instead of Sitapur in the list of state ministers. Responsibilities have also been distributed to the remaining ministers while maintaining regional balance:
What is the meaning of this big change?
Political analysts believe that this time, while deciding the in-charge of the districts, special care has been taken of the social and regional equations of the ministers. Ministers have been given the responsibility of those districts where they can strengthen the party’s support base as well as calm down local factionalism. In the coming days, some more shocking changes may also be seen in the government and organizational structure of Uttar Pradesh.
