New Delhi. Efforts to end the ongoing tension between Iran and America once again seem to be hanging in the balance. Iran has sent a new proposal to end the conflict, but US President Donald Trump is not happy with it. News agency Reuters has given this information quoting an American official.
Important meeting held in the Situation Room of the White House
Iran’s proposal was reviewed during a national security meeting in the Situation Room of the White House on Monday. A senior official present in the meeting said that Trump did not like this proposal. The biggest reason for this is that there is no mention of Iran’s nuclear program in the proposal.
What proposal did Iran make?
Iran had suggested that it would lift sanctions imposed on the Strait of Hormuz if the US lifted its blockade and agreed to end hostilities. However, Iran clearly said that it wants to avoid any discussion on its nuclear activities. This proposal was reportedly sent to America through Pakistan.
Rubio said – no agreement on nuclear weapons
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio clearly said in a conversation with Fox News that any agreement must necessarily include the condition that Iran should not be able to make nuclear weapons. He also said the US would not accept any efforts by Iran to maintain control over one of the world’s most important sea lanes. Rubio said in clear words that Hormuz is an international waterway and it cannot be opened on the terms of any one country.
proposal unlikely to be accepted
According to analysts, unless Iran is ready to negotiate on the nuclear program, the chances of any concrete agreement with America are extremely slim. The Trump administration’s priority is clear that Iran will not be allowed to become a nuclear weapon state and there is no question of giving any relaxation on this issue.
