Are you also one of those people whose nights are spent not tossing and turning, but circling the bathroom? If yes, then you are not alone. This problem of frequent urination is not just a sign of old age, but behind it are hidden some of our own bad habits, which are slowly attacking our health.

When sleep is disrupted repeatedly at night, it becomes common to feel tired, irritable and not interested in doing any work in the morning. Medical Officer (AYUSH) of Bulandshahr Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh It is said that ignoring this problem can be a big mistake, because it can gradually have a bad effect on your kidneys, blood and even your brain.

Why does the body change with age?

According to Dr. Singh, after the age of 50-55 years, the level of a hormone called vasopressin in our body starts decreasing, which controls urination at night. Our kidneys also slow down. In such a situation, people either reduce water intake or start taking sleeping pills, which is even more dangerous.

But the good news is that you can control this problem to a great extent by changing some of your habits. Let us know those 5 common mistakes which perhaps you are also making.

Mistake #1: Fulfilling the ‘wrong’ water quota after 6pm

What do you do: They remain busy with work throughout the day and after coming home in the evening, they think of completing their daily quota by drinking water.
Why harm: By evening, our kidneys also prepare to rest. When you drink too much water after 6-7 pm, your bladder gets full and it has to wake you up at night.

Mistake #2: Hidden enemies at dinner: soup, salad and tea

What do you do: In order to eat light food at night, you drink thin soup, cucumber salad or masala tea.
Why harm: All these things are full of water. Masala tea or turmeric milk also adds extra water to the body, which repeatedly disrupts your sleep at night.

Mistake #3: Thirsty all day, ‘tanker’ at night!

What do you do: We forget to drink water throughout the day and when we remember in the evening, we gulp down two-three glasses of water at once.
Why harm: This suddenly puts a lot of pressure on your bladder and your deep sleep gets disrupted.

Mistake #4: Peeing right before bed just as a ‘precaution’

What do you do: Just before you go to sleep, whether you have urinated or not, you go to the toilet ‘just like that’.
Why harm: Urinating even when your bladder is not completely full gets into the habit of sending ‘false signals’ to its nerves. As a result, even a little bit of urination starts waking you up at night.

Mistake #5: Wrong time and way to drink water

What do you do: When you feel thirsty, you drink the entire glass, whether it is morning or night.
Why harm: After the age of 50, the body system changes. Your kidneys are more active during the day. Give him a chance to work during the day only.

So what is the right way to drink water? (doctor told 70% rule)

According to Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, just follow one rule – 70% water during the day and 30% in the evening.

  • As soon as I wake up in the morning: Be sure to drink a glass of lukewarm water. This compensates for the overnight water loss.
  • Till 3 pm: Finish 70% of your daily water intake by 3 pm.
  • From 3 to 5 pm: During this time, drink water slowly, not all at once.
  • After 6-7 pm: Now do not drink water after filling it. When you feel thirsty, just small sips Drink in, just to moisten the throat.
  • While taking the medicine: If you have to take any medicine, take only a little water with it.

In this way, your kidneys will do their work comfortably during the day, bladder will remain calm at night and you will be able to enjoy deep sleep till morning. Adopting this habit will also improve your blood pressure and memory.
