Tribute paid to soldiers martyred in 1971 Indo-Pak war on Vijay Diwas

Haldwani, 16 December (HS). Vijay Diwas was celebrated with reverence and respect in the district. Tributes were paid to the soldiers martyred in the 1971 Indo-Pak war by offering flowers and wreaths at the Martyr Memorial located on Nainital Road. Take this opportunity. General (Reni) Inderjit Singh, City Magistrate AP Bajpai, Sub-Collector Paritosh Verma, District Development Officer Gopal Giri Goswami and former army officers paid tribute to the martyrs.

Chief guest. General (Army) Inderjit Singh said that the Indian Army defeated Pakistan in the 1971 war and freed East Pakistan (present Bangladesh) from the clutches of the Pakistani Army. He said that Uttarakhand is the battlefield of soldiers and their sacrifice will always be remembered.

City Magistrate AP Bajpai praised the bravery of the Indian Army and said that the sacrifice made by the martyred soldiers to protect the country’s borders can never be forgotten. During this, the brave women of martyrs like Saraswati Devi (wife of Martyr Kripal Singh), Nandi Devi (wife of Martyr Mohan Singh), Kalavati Devi (wife of Martyr Havildar Sher Singh) were honored by covering them with shawls.

Administrative officials including Station Commander Colonel Prithviraj Singh, Colonel (Retd) NS Chauhan, Colonel (Retd) Alok Pandey, Colonel (Retd) Laxman Singh, and Colonel (Retd) SK Joshi were present in the program. Officers and ex-servicemen were also present. Everyone paid tribute to the martyrs by offering flowers at their memorial.
