Tomorrow’s weather, October 4: Alert of torrential rain in these states on Sunday; IMD issued warning, know the condition of your city

Due to the departure of monsoon and the cyclonic circulation formed in the Bay of Bengal, a big change is being seen in the weather of the country. India Meteorological Department (IMD), while issuing the latest weather bulletin for Sunday, October 4, has warned of torrential rains along with thunderstorms in many states of the country. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over most parts of Northeast and East India during the next 24 to 48 hours. Along with this, it has been advised to be cautious regarding strong winds and lightning in the coastal and southern states.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather in the northeastern states will be most affected by the effect of monsoon moisture and trough line.

  • Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh: An alert of heavy to extremely heavy rain has been issued in many districts of these three states. In view of the possibility of waterlogging in low-lying areas and landslides on hilly roads, the administration has issued an alert.

  • West Bengal and Sikkim: Moderate to heavy rains will continue over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Amidst the preparations for Durga Puja, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain and thundershowers in the districts of South Bengal including Kolkata.

  • Bihar and Jharkhand: Yellow alert has been issued for sporadic rain and lightning in Seemanchal and northern parts of Bihar as well as some areas of Jharkhand.

Intensity of rain will increase over coastal and interior parts due to seasonal activities in the southern peninsula:

  • Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka: Many parts of Kerala and Coastal Karnataka may receive heavy rains along with strong thunderstorms. Intermittent rain due to local cloud formation is expected in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

  • Warning to fishermen: Strong winds with a speed of 40 to 55 km per hour are likely in the Gulf of Mannar, Comorin area and south-west Bay of Bengal, due to which fishermen have been advised not to venture into the deep sea.

The process of withdrawal of South-West Monsoon is progressing rapidly from most of the states of North-West India, due to which the weather here will remain almost clear and dry.

  • Delhi-NCR: The sky will be mainly clear in the national capital Delhi and surrounding areas on Sunday. There may be light sunshine and humidity during the day, while there will be a slight drop in the night temperature. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 34 to 35 degrees and the minimum temperature is expected to be around 23 to 24 degrees Celsius.

  • Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan: The weather will be completely dry in Western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan. Monsoon has already departed from most parts of Rajasthan, due to which strong sunshine is being felt during the day and slight coolness at night.

  • Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh: There will be less cloud movement in Central India as well, although there may be sporadic drizzle in South Bastar division of Chhattisgarh.

The Meteorological Department has given strict instructions to the common people and farmers not to take shelter in open fields, waterlogged areas and under trees during thunderstorms and lightning. Tourists traveling in hilly areas have been advised to avoid landslide-prone routes and keep an eye on local weather updates. In the states where the harvest season is going on, farmers have been instructed to keep the harvested crops in safe sheds so that there is no damage due to sudden rains.
