The long wait of Shiva devotees is finally over. Today, Thursday, July 30, 2026, the holy month of Shravan (Saavan) has officially started. This year the month of Sawan will last for 31 days and will end on 28th August. During this period, a total of 4 Sawan Monday fasts will be observed and there are also possibilities of 2 lunar/solar eclipses. On the one hand, on the very first day of Sawan, a very auspicious ‘Ayushman Yoga’ is being formed for the worship of Lord Bholenath, on the other hand, the influence of ‘Shravan Nakshatra’ will remain throughout the day. According to mythological beliefs, this holy month is called Shravan month because of Shravan Nakshatra.

Exact time of sunrise, sunset and moonrise

According to religious beliefs, it is considered necessary to know the position of the Sun and Moon before starting any fast or worship in Saavan. Today sunrise occurred at 06:00 am and sunset will occur at 07:06 pm. At the same time, the time of moonrise will be at 07:48 in the evening and moonset will be at 07:15 in the morning of the next day i.e. 31st July. A slight difference of a few minutes is possible in these times according to local latitudes and cities.
