This warning came after reports that many Indians were invited to Russia on the pretext of good job or education and then fraudulently admitted them to the army and sent them to the battlefield against Ukraine.
What did the Ministry of External Affairs say?
External Affairs Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal expressed concern over the matter, saying, “We have seen reports of Indian citizens being admitted to the Russian Army recently. The government has underlined the risks and dangers contained in this way on many occasions in the last one year and has cautioned Indian citizens accordingly.
The ministry also made it clear that the issue has been strongly raised in front of the Russian ambassador in New Delhi and in front of the Russian officials through the Indian Embassy in Moscow. The Government of India has clearly stated to Russia that the practice of such recruitment should be abolished immediately and whatever Indian citizens are associated with the Russian army at this time, they should be released as soon as possible.
Indians are falling prey to deception
According to reports, many Indian youth have been victims of the agents. He was lured by a construction helper or associate job in Russia, but on reaching there, he was sent directly to the battlefield by giving military training. Many of these people went to Russia on a tourist or student visa. According to a report, at least 15 Indian citizens are stranded in Ukraine’s war zone, where they are being forced to fight from Russia.

The Ministry of External Affairs has assured that they are actively working on all such matters in Moscow in constant contact with the families of affected Indian citizens to ensure early and safe return to the trapped Indians.
