News India Live, Digital Desk: Chanakya Niti on Marrying a Beautiful Wife: Acharya Chanakya is known for his visionary thoughts and deep understanding of human nature. His ‘Chanakya Niti’ is equally relevant in every field of life even today, whether it is personal relations, governance or wealth related policies. Chanakya has also told some important things about married life, especially about the choice of beautiful wife. He believed that only external beauty cannot become the basis of happy married life. Rather, some special people should avoid marrying a beautiful woman.

According to Chanakya policy, men should prefer his nature, quality and behavior as a wife. They argue that physical beauty may fade over time, but character and rites are always together. Chanakya has given three main points when a man should avoid marrying a highly beautiful wife or not only beauty the basis of marriage:

lacking knowledge : Chanakya believed that the house is not good with a beautiful but ignorant and ritualless wife. If the wife does not have good values, she does not know the importance of family and relationships, and she only boasts of her form, then such a woman can destroy the household. Lack of education and discretion often gives rise to egoistic and indiscriminate behavior, which can crack relationships.

Person with lack of money: Chanakya advised men not to marry beautiful wife who have limited financial resources. His argument was that such women often like very conscious and pretense towards their beauty. Their expensive habits, high costs of maintenance and frequent equipment will become an economic burden for a poor or average income person. In such a situation, there may be difficulties in running the household and there may be discord in the family.

Male’s own position: According to Chanakya, if the man is a weak, incredible or unstable nature, he should avoid marrying a beautiful woman. A highly beautiful wife, if she is also virtuous, can fall prey to society or external attractions. A weak character husband may be unable to control such a wife or handle her ambitions, which may lead to a state of extramarital affair and humiliation. In order to protect the beautiful wife from the evil eyes of the society and give her proper respect, it is necessary for the man to be strong.

In short, Chanakya’s policy gives the message that character, virtue, discretion and practical understanding are more important than external forms in marital life. For a happy and successful household, it is absolutely necessary to have mutual respect, sacrifice and virtues in both husband and wife, which is not only received from physical beauty.
