Iman sold for Rs 3 lakh, wife blackmailed
Disclosing the case, City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Rajeev Pathak said that the victim was married to a young man named Shivam Sahu on May 10, 2025. The demon of dowry had been stalking this relationship since the wedding itself. The in-laws had demanded Rs 3 lakh in cash. The girl’s family somehow paid Rs 2 lakh, but the accused husband started harassing the newlywed for the remaining Rs 1 lakh. When the money was not received, he took a step that no one had imagined.
Was addicted to watching porn videos
Another shocking revelation has come to light in the police investigation. Accused Shivam Sahu was addicted to watching objectionable and obscene material on the internet. Due to this mental disorder, he recorded a private video of his wife in December 2025. When the wife refused for dowry, the accused started blackmailing her and threatened that he would leave her faceless in the society. Making his threat come true, he made the video viral on social media and in the WhatsApp group of relatives.
Came from Mumbai with a pistol to threaten, police caught him
After making the video viral, the accused fled to Mumbai out of fear of the police and remained hidden there. But he was not satisfied. On February 12, he returned from Mumbai and went straight to his in-laws’ house in Mauganj. According to eyewitnesses, he had taken an illegal weapon (katta) with him and was threatening to kill the entire family. The frightened family immediately informed the police. The police immediately laid siege and arrested the accused on the spot.
