Palamu, July 24 (HS). The body of a teenager who drowned while bathing at the Datum Patam waterfall in the Herhanj police station area of ​​Latehar district on Monday, was recovered after 24 hours.

The youth has been identified as Ranjan Goswami (16), son of Bigu Goswami, resident of Pashar Kasmar village of Tarhasi police station area of ​​Palamu district. The post-mortem of the dead body was conducted at Latehar Sadar Hospital on Wednesday. The body is expected to reach home by noon. Ranjan's family members are inconsolable after the incident.

According to the information, after performing Somwari Puja of his sister on Monday, Ranjan along with his four friends left home to visit Datam Patam waterfall of Herhanj. Two of his friends had left from Daltonganj, while three youths including Ranjan had left from the village. After reaching the spot on bike, all of them went to bathe in the waterfall. In the process, Ranjan drowned in the depth of water and disappeared. His companions reached the village and informed the villagers about the incident and fled from the spot. On the information of the villagers, administrative officials reached the spot and were engaged in searching for the teenager. Meanwhile, his dead body was recovered floating in the water 24 hours later on Tuesday late evening. After taking possession, the dead body was sent to Latehar Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. Two companions of Ranjan, who were absconding since the incident, were caught on Tuesday evening, while his two other companions are still missing. The police is trying to find them. In fact, after the incident, all his four companions fled from the spot out of fear.

Here at home, Ranjan's family is waiting for his dead body and is preparing for the last rites. The last rites will be performed when the body arrives after postmortem from Latehar Sadar Hospital. The family says that Ranjan came home on Sunday after working in Patna for 2 months. On the pretext of meeting expenses, his colleagues lured him and took him with them, which led to this incident.
