The issue of farmers has always been the hottest in Uttar Pradesh politics. Now once again, Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav has launched a direct and scathing attack on the Yogi Adityanath government over the plight of the Annadas of the state.
He has alleged that the promise of doubling the income of farmers by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has proved to be a ‘Maha-Jhut’. The condition is that the income of farmers has doubled, inverted inflation has doubled their costs, due to which they have reached the brink of ruin.
Akhilesh raised these 5 big questions:
During a press conference, Akhilesh Yadav said in a lot of anger and tangled manner:
- No income, cost doubled: The BJP’s promise was to double the income, but the prices of diesel, manure, and seeds increased so much that the cost of cultivating farmers was doubled.
- Debt waiver is just a cheating: He raised the question that the BJP had made big promises to waive debt, but why is the farmer of UP forced to commit suicide under the burden of debt?
- Maha-Ghotala of Paddy Purchase: Akhilesh alleged that farmers are being deliberately harassed at government paddy procurement centers, so that they are forced to sell their crop middlemen at a quarter to one price.
- MSP just on paper: The government beats to increase the MSP (minimum support price), but when the farmer sells his crop, he does not get MSP.
- Only big industrialists: He alleged that this ‘double engine’ government only waies the debt of thousands of crores of its big industrialist friends, but they do not have money to forgive the debt of farmers.
Believe farmers ‘Yadav Raj’
Akhilesh reminded the days of his government and said that the socialist government always worked in the interest of farmers, improved the mandis and got them the right price for their crop.
This statement clearly shows that before the 2027 elections, Akhilesh Yadav has decided to make the farmers’ issue the main weapon of his politics and he is not going to leave any chance to surround the government on this issue.
