India continued their T20 series winning streak in Australia by winning the five-match T20 series 2-1. The last match of the series in Brisbane could not be completed due to rain, due to which the match was abandoned and Australia missed the draw against Bath. This is Team India’s fifth consecutive T20 series win in Australia.

The first match of the series was also canceled due to rain. In both the matches, Team India was batting first when the match was canceled due to rain.

Gill-Abhishek match canceled after the storm

In the last match of the series on Saturday, 8 November in Brisbane, Australian captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and decided to bowl first. Shubman Gill made a great start for Team India by hitting four fours. Gill also hit four fours in one over. During this time, Abhishek Sharma got two leases of life, which he took full advantage of by batting aggressively.

But as soon as Team India crossed the 50-run mark, the match was canceled due to bad weather. Due to lightning and storm in Brisbane, all the players returned to the pavilion. At this time Team India’s score was 52 runs in 4.5 overs, no wicket had fallen. However, it started raining after a while and the match could not be restarted. After a wait of almost two hours, the umpires decided to abandon the match. Shubhman Gill remained unbeaten on 29 runs on 16 balls and Abhishek remained unbeaten on 23 runs on 13 balls.

With this, Team India won the five-match series 2-1 and maintained its record of never losing a T20 series by winning the fifth consecutive T20 series in Australia. Moreover, Team India has not lost any T20 series since 2023. During this period, Team India won nine bilateral series, out of which one was a draw. The Indian team also won the T20 World Cup and Asia Cup titles.

This win is also special for captain Suryakumar Yadav and coach Gautam Gambhir as Team India bounced back from being behind in the series with two consecutive wins, which ultimately proved to be the scoreline.
